Past Performance

Prince William County Public School System: Worked with General Dynamics on a wireless deployment program, Marathon Systems supported the implementation of the 47 network connections throughout Louise A. Benton Middle School and Lake Ridge Middle School.

This pilot project has received great attention from and been reviewed by both the school board and surrounding jurisdictions, and if approved, the school board’s IT department is currently proposing rollout to 61 schools. This project included evening and weekend hours, equipment installation, and patching services.

Montgomery College: With only a 30-day window for completion, Marathon installed, terminated, and certified over 3,500 network connections throughout the three floors of the new Office of Information Technology building. All floors were interconnected with a combination of Air-Blown Fiber and Category 5E cables from the main distribution frame (MDF) to the intermediate distribution frame (IDF) closets. All work was completed alongside of general construction and mechanical and electrical system upgrades.

Marathon has also completed work on several other buildings, including Goldenrod at the Germantown campus, the Main Facilities building in Rockville, and several satellite offices throughout the DC Metro area. We provided wireless access point cabling and installation in all of the main Rockville campus buildings as well.

Coppin State University: Marathon has supported the implementation of the wireless network throughout the campus. We have also been contracted to provide network infrastructure support in all of the new campus buildings, including the installation of closet equipment and patching methodology. The electrical division was responsible for evaluation and installation of the UPS system for the new Health and Human Services Building.

Creech Air Force Base: Partnered with G-Technologies, Marathon was responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and certification of a complete physical security system at Creech AFB in Las Vegas, NV. This system included the trenching and boring of new conduit pathways to support both electrical and network connectivity to the camera locations from various military buildings throughout the base facility. Marathon supported the electrical and fiber installation, termination, and certification to each location and coordinated with base personnel for the duration of the project.

Delaware Air National Guard: Again, partnered with G-Technologies, Marathon was responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and certification of a complete physical security system at the Delaware Air National Guard facility in New Castle, DE. This system included the on-site design/build capabilities of our electrical and network installation team for various military buildings throughout the base facility where access was limited and time was of the essence. We supported the electrical and fiber installation, termination, and certification to each location and coordinated with base personnel for the duration of the project.

Ongoing Operations: Since its incorporation in 2004, Marathon has worked with Ongoing Operations to support its 6,000-sq.-ft. level III data center and the 50,000-sq.-ft. remote workspace facility. Supporting multiple federal credit unions from coast to coast, these spaces support seating, conference centers, and secure storage to back up and provide instantaneous accessibility for its customers in times of disaster. Marathon supports all aspects of construction, electrical work, communications, and fiber network requirements on an on-demand basis, including specific construction requirements to meet the needs of their clients.

Spirent Communications: Marathon Systems has been servicing Spirent Communications since the days when it was owned and operated as Hekimian Laboratories. We’ve handled all aspects of the telecommunications systems installation, service, and relocations; electrical systems service, installation, and maintenance; and general construction services from building to building. Marathon was contracted to design, develop, and install the new infrastructure systems at their new headquarters building in Germantown. This work also included decommissioning of all of the telecommunication and electrical systems at their vacated facilities in Rockville and Gaithersburg.

Emerson Power Transmission: Located near Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport since the late 1950s, Emerson Power has had multiple system upgrades over the years. Marathon has collaborated with the IT and facilities departments over the past several years to support the installation and upgrade of multiple plant kiosk and desktop deployments. Marathon recently designed and installed a complete front office cabling infrastructure system, including the implementation of a new Cisco hardware solution. Over the years, the plant has upgraded their infrastructure backbone throughout the facility to support fiber to the closet.

Prince George’s Community College: Working throughout the campus during the fall semester, Marathon installed a new fiber-optic backbone throughout the eight existing campus buildings. We utilized the building structure, steam tunnels, and duct banks to distribute the 15,000 ft of single-mode fiber. The electrical division supported the installation of 22 new UPS systems for the IDF closets throughout the campus.

Lowdowski Law Firm: When tasked with deploying a new office in the Towson, MD, area, Lowdowski Law Firm contacted us to support their complete IT, telephony, and security installation services. We provided a complete network infrastructure solution, desktop placement, equipment installation, and service connection over a holiday weekend. Marathon coordinated the service provider, along with a new Nortel Networks phone system installation, training, and maintenance package.

Presidio Corporation, Headquarters Building: Marathon has serviced, maintained, and installed both electrical and telecommunication systems throughout the Presidio headquarters building in Greenbelt, MD. We designed, developed, and deployed several thousand square feet of laboratory environments for testing, programming, and shipping of equipment. Along with the laboratory rooms, MSI also services the day-to-day 100,000 sq. ft. of office space for electrical, telecommunication, construction, and heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) services.

Travel Channel/Cox Communications: Marathon was commissioned to remove the existing system; and design and install a completely new Category 6 solution throughout the new 80,000-sq.-ft. headquarters facility. Marathon was brought on board to survey the existing infrastructure, review and compare the new construction design to the existing infrastructure layout, and make a recommendation and provide a solution. We removed the existing infrastructure in conjunction with construction trades and coordinated with HITT Contracting throughout the project for an on-time completion and cut-over.

Wintara: Moving to a new headquarters building in Oxon Hill, MD, overlooking the National Harbor, Wintara contracted with Marathon to design, install, and support the move effort from start to finish. Working with Presidio on the Nortel voice and data solution, we provided a complete Category 6 solution for the new 60,000-sq.-ft. build-out. This system also included fiber and copper risers, extending the service provider’s connectivity into the client’s MDF.

BAE Systems: Marathon's senior management has had a long-standing relationship with S3I, utilizing the high-end state-of-the-art security solutions for multiple clients. Marathon was contracted to support the multi-building campus security deployment for BAE Systems in Southern Maryland. With five buildings to complete during a weekend cut-over of their entire security solution, we worked side by side with the S3I team to complete the work on this campus on-time and under budget.
